Your own private haven
We want you to feel at home when you stay with us, we have provided everything for you so you feel comfortable and can relax and enjoy the house and the surrounding area.
We have two large guest bedrooms on the ground floor, each with en-suite bathrooms, and with views across our meadow towards the plum orchard and beyond.
All rooms feature:
a king-sized bed with a lightweight Chinese silk duvet (suitable all year round in a Passivhaus)
two arm chairs and a small table
a flat-screen TV connected to Freesat and the Internet
a hospitality tray
a drinks-chiller ‘silent’ fridge
environmentally-friendly soap, shampoo and conditioner by Faith in Nature
bath robes and a hairdryer
free, fast Wi-Fi access with optional hard-wired local area network connections with Ethernet/USB/Apple Thunderbolt adaptors available
The en-suite in the Pheasant room has a large double-end bath with overhead shower, and the Hare Room has a large head (rain) shower in a generous enclosure. Both en-suite bathrooms are supplied with softened water.
The guests rooms, as throughout the house, have excellent indoor air quality because of the imperceptible mechanical ventilation system that continuously extracts stale air and replaces it with filtered, 100% fresh air that’s warmed in the winter and cooled in the summer.
Whilst you are staying with us you will have your own key to the house and are welcome to come and go at your own convenience. We do ask that you respect our neighbours (and us!) by being as quiet as possible if you are coming back particularly late.
Breakfast is served upstairs in the dining area with views towards Halesend Wood SSSI (site of special scientific interest) in one direction and a view down the valley towards Suckley Hills in another. We can also serve your breakfast in your room if you would prefer.
We shall also be pleased to provide a cold platter evening meal in your room, by prior arrangement and at modest cost.
You are welcome to sit on our terrace and to walk across the meadow and in the plum and pear orchards to enjoy more views towards the Malvern Hills (North Hill is clearly visible), the Suckley Hills, and towards the nearby Halesend Wood, Birchwood and Mallins Wood.
Please note that there is no street lighting where we live and our outside lights are wildlife-friendly and are not on throughout the night. There are external wall lights that are operated by motion detectors so these will come on as you approach the house from the parking area and the patio and as you leave the house. There is a battery-operated lantern in a bedside table drawer by the door of each guest room.
Indoors, there are lights illuminating the stairs (and thus the hall) which come on automatically if you enter the hall from a guest room or from the front door or the boot room. You should thus not need to look for a light switch to turn these lights on or off when entering the house or leaving your room when it is dark.
For everyone’s safety, we have smoke detectors sited in all of the main rooms and the hall. These are mains electricity-operated with a battery back-up.
Also for everyone’s safety, two of the ceiling downlighters in each guest room and in the hall have emergency battery-backup and will come on automatically in the event of a power cut. Should there be an emergency you should thus be able to find your way to safety. These lights will go out when the power is restored.
