I had a truly wonderful stay at Woodlands on so many levels. As a mother of 4 on a solo break away it was a real treat to be looked after so nicely and I felt spoilt rotten! From the delicious food platters, cake and tea tray to the fabulous breakfast everything was exquisite. I loved all the subtle touches which made me feel 'home from home' - without the responsibility!! As a (mature!) MSc student of Sustainable Architecture, experiencing staying in a Passivhaus first hand was invaluable for my research project and both Linda and Andrew were hugely helpful discussing their experience of designing and living in a Passivhaus. And as a lover of the outdoors, I enjoyed exploring the beautiful local countryside and had some super walks. I will certainly be returning - am curious to experience the Passivhaus in winter! Thank you for making my stay so pleasurable and informative.

Thank you Andrew and Linda for being excellent hosts. The location, food and comfort of the room were amazing. We were so impressed by your beautiful passivhause and your willingness to answer our many questions! It was greatly appreciated.

We had such a lovely stay with Andrew and Linda at Woodlands B&B. It's an incredibly peaceful place, at the end of a winding cul de sac, but extremely convenient for Great Malvern; a lovely little town a 10 minute drive away.
The house is a modern eco home with lots of beautiful natural materials and glass. We were given a choice of two almost identical rooms - both tastefully decorated and spacious, with lots of hidden gadgetry! The view from our room over their rolling field of fruit trees was a delight, and there was lots of interesting wildlife to watch.
Andrew and Linda were extremely attentive and welcoming, and our breakfasts were delicious and copious.

A fabulous stay at a lovely location with truly excellent hosts! Lots of friendly advise on hand as well regards Passivhaus and oak frames for self-builders.

We booked a one night stay at Woodlands using the website which was easy to use and the payment was simple. We arrived at the Woodlands and we’re blown away by its stunning features! Wow! Andrew and Linda were such kind and attentive hosts. The room was immaculate with 5 star touches, the bed was very comfy and the morning views were beautiful. We opted for the platter on the evening which was brought to our door on a table. There was plenty of food and it was all delicious! The breakfast in the morning was superb, my favourite was the granola with stewed plums from their own trees. Thank you both for a wonderful stay, we will be back!

We spent a weekend at Woodlands to experience what it would be like to live in a Passivhaus home. It was a perfect break in every respect, from the welcome to the time we had to depart.
On Friday we diverted into Worcester before setting the sat nav for Woodlands. We had booked Linda's amazing cold platters and sat on the patio as the sun descended and listened to the wildlife around us whilst the bats darted along the hedge line.
Saturday saw us enjoy a fabulous breakfast at the start of the day. Our hosts wisely advised postponing our planned walk because of the forecast temperature for the day ahead was so high. Instead we had a potter around Great Malvern and Ledbury. Both trips were interesting but Ledbury illustrated how long oak frame buildings can survive and prosper.
The Woodlands oak frame is beautiful and cleverly incorporated the required elements to make a Passivhaus. Andrew kindly shared some background on why Woodlands became an Oakwrights project and shared some information that highlighted the many designs in which oak frames can used today. Having spent a little time experiencing the building and enjoying its architecture, it is easy to see why it would make a great choice for our own project.
Over the weekend the outside temperatures reached around 30C on Friday and Saturday but inside the Passivhaus was a cool and fresh environment. Linda and Andrew were really generous with their time and helpfully took us through their building experience and why they chose to build a Passivhaus. The conversation and the week-end overall has already had an impact on our plans.
Inspiring is an overused word today but we left Woodlands genuinely inspired. Woodlands has been in our thoughts ever since the visit. Thank you Linda and Andrew for being excellent hosts and for sharing your amazing home with us.

My wife and I stayed at Woodlands for as short break and 'research visit' to learn more about building our own Passivhaus home. We were warmly greeted on arrival and made to feel at home. The owners, Linda and Andrew, were gracious and generous hosts taking time to 'give us the tour' and answer our (many) questions about their home.
After a refreshing night's sleep in the comfortable and fresh-aired bedroom, we were treated to a sumptuous breakfast, before spending time sipping coffee and chatting on the balcony. A delightful and very informative visit: highly recommended.

My wife and I did a night at the BnB. It was a lovely setting with a very comfortable and well thought out room with excellent hosts.
The cake in the room was a lovely touch and we would definitely recommend to anyone else.

We have just returned from a wonderful 3-night stay at Woodlands. It is quite probably the most relaxing break we have had.
Andrew and Linda's home is absolutely beautiful. The setting in which it stands is simply stunning.
It also has that most rare of commodities in this day and age; silence. It is a delight to just sit outside on the terrace listening to (apart from birdsong) absolutely nothing.
I can only concur with previous reviews as to the unobtrusive attentiveness of Andrew and Linda; they are wonderful hosts and make you feel most welcome in their home.
(By the way, the breakfast is superb; but we would also strongly recommend you request the evening platter for when you arrive.)

We stayed for one night while we visited the Three Counties Show, and were kindly allowed to park one of our cars at the Woodlands all day, even though we weren't checking in until the end of the day. The whole stay was perfect. The house is beautiful, the rooms are beautiful and way beyond our expectations. We were given a choice of the two rooms since Andrew and Linda only let out one room at a time; we chose the room with the bath the size of a swimming pool and the fabulous view from the huge sliding doors over the fields. The towels and bathrobes are unbelievably thick and fluffy, the toiletries are luxurious, the bathroom was spotlessly clean. The room is beautifully furnished and the tea tray was fabulous, as was the home-made cake which we enjoyed in the evening, sitting on the lovely and totally peaceful terrace, overlooking breath-taking views. The breakfast was amazing and we could choose what time we wanted it; a wide choice of locally sourced foods and gorgeous home-made bread. We didn't need to eat for the rest of the day!
Linda and Andrew are perfect hosts, unobtrusive, but there if you need anything, and absolutely lovely to talk to. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning another visit.

We had a lovely overnight stay at Woodlands. Andrew and Linda were excellent hosts, attentive but unobtrusive. They have a beautiful home. Room was comfortable and finished to a very high standard. Lovely touches, such as home made cake on arrival. Delicious breakfast the next morning, including the nicest eggs I've ever had (and I'm not a big egg fan!). Lovely to watch the plentiful pheasants strutting around the garden in the morning. Would definitely recommend, and hope to revisit when we're next in the area.

Thank you ever so much Linda and Andrew for having us into your beautiful home. We were so delighted stepping out into those serene surroundings, listening to the birds singing. The warmth of the welcome and the taste of lemon drizzle cake Linda baked for us was fabulous.
We had lovely evening with both, you taken extra effort and time patiently sharing your wealth of experience. We were pleasantly surprised to learn how energy efficient, warm and comfortable your home was. We got so much insight into the Passivhaus construction, the planning and preparation, and some of the challenges you faced. Your advice and guidance will be so invaluable to our own journey to build a green, low energy home.
Our stay with you was amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The view from the room was picturesque. Thanking for helping us book our evening dinner. The room, facilities, bed were super cosy. We had a very sound sleep. You were amazing hosts, I have to specially mention you making us delicious and sumptuous breakfast early in the morning, help us make a timely start on our way to the planned event.
We will be visiting you again and will surely be getting back to you for more of your informed advice.
Jessel Plavelil Varghese. April 2023
Andrew and Linda are very kind and welcoming hosts. The B&B is spotless and the rooms are a perfect size with everything done to the highest standard.
Heather Wilson, March 2023
After the open day (organised by Oakwrights) we decided to spend one night in a Passivhouse and to learn more from Linda and Andrew. The house is beautiful, from design to execution, decoration and attention to details. Leaving in this house is a great experience, the controlled climate makes all the difference.
The B&B is at the same level!!! 5* stars.
Linda and Andrew are great hosts, providing extensive information regarding all the process of building an oak Passivhouse, and making sure that our stay was perfect. We have only one regret: we stayed only one night!
Thank you Linda & Andrew, we are looking forward to seeing you again!
Rene, March 2023
Fabulous place, fabulous hosts, fabulous food. Andrew and Linda were very generous with their time and attention. Highly recommended.
R Wood, March 2023
As others before have said, our interest in Passivhaus brought us to Andrew and Linda’s beautiful home. It is hard to say which had the greater impact; the wonderfully well-designed and executed home, with the most comfortable and immaculate accommodation; our hosts’ knowledge of their specialist subject and willingness to share both the positives and the challenges with charming candor - so many interesting hints and tips we have brought away with us; or the fabulous refreshments and food - I’ve never had breakfast as good! The setting for this graceful home is superb and the wildlife to be seen from the extraordinary comfort of the home is a joy! We will look forward to our return visit very much indeed.
Sally & Kelvin Moore, January 2023
Fantastic hosts, fantastic house, fantastic location and fantastic breakfasts. We really enjoyed our stay at Woodlands, together with the time Andrew and Linda gave us regarding our Passive House journey. Very helpful, reassuring and informative. Thank you.
Farida Jarvis, October 2022
An amazing house in a superb location, with very attentive hosts. Andrew and Linda were so happy to explain the mechanics and comfort of building and living in a passive house. We stayed with our daughter in the Hare and Pheasant rooms and enjoyed every comfort. The breakfasts were the most delicious we can remember.
Keith Bunce, September 2022
Linda and Andrew were warm and welcoming hosts. Their story is inspirational and the resulting Passivhaus is fabulous, built in an idyllic secret valley with glorious views.
Linda and Andrew were enthusiastic in answering all my plot finding, MVHR, heat pump and other techy questions and Sally’s more aesthetic queries.
All in all a fabulous 3 day’s and don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy the locally sourced delicious cold platter.
Arthur Creswell, September 2022
Immaculate accommodation in a lovely, peaceful location. Linda and Andrew were friendly, thoughtful hosts and the breakfasts and evening platters were excellent. We would definitely like to visit again.
Marian Bingam, September 2022
A brilliant weekend away. Andrew and Linda are the most patient welcoming hosts. Willing to answer all our questions about the house and the building process, providing delicious food and a peaceful relaxing environment for the guests to enjoy. The surrounding is beautiful and allows for nice walks. Worcester is very close and a nice city to spend the day. Will not only recommend but definitely go back in winter to enjoy the comfort and wonderful reception we received.
Telma Guerreiro, September 2022
We’ve just returned from four nights at Woodlands. Our first time in a Passivhaus and we were really impressed. The atmosphere was superb as were the facilities. The location is outstanding and extremely peaceful. Breakfasts were awesome and the food platter that we had on our first night was brilliant.
Andrew and Linda were consummate hosts, always there should we need them. They were both very knowledgeable and happy to answer out question about the house. We would recommend Woodlands to anyone who wants to stay in a peaceful setting where the wildlife is on show every day.
Thank you Andrew and Linda for a great long weekend.
Nic and Judy, September 2022
Everything about the experience was perfect and exceeded our expectations. If you’d like a perfect getaway, for the experience of a Passivhaus or to bend Linda and Andrew’s ear about the build itself, then book in and check out the plant room!
A special mention for the cheese and meat platter (arrive on an empty stomach) and morning breakfast.
Dean McCormack, July 2022
We spent a very enjoyable three nights in the Hare Room earlier this month and would highly recommend a stay.
Linda and Andrew were wonderful hosts - always there if you needed anything but never intrusive. We’d alerted them to the fact we were vegetarian and so were given a choice of appropriate breakfast options and they also adapted their evening platter menu for us too. We decided a few days before we arrived to have that for two nights and were very glad that we did - it was lovely sitting out on the patio with a table full of food and the wine/beer we’d brought with us.
The house itself was amazing, just such a comfortable atmosphere, the rooms were well appointed and the shower was wonderful. The location was very peaceful - a real break away from everything but still plenty to do in the surrounding area. We particularly enjoyed watching the pheasants wander past on a regular basis. Andrew and Linda were very patient in answering all of our questions about their experience of self-building and of living in a Passivhaus. We’re already plotting a return visit!
The Russells, July 2022
Our first visit to the Malverns on the hottest weekend of the year so it was great to finish each day on the Woodlands patio surrounded by lovely countryside. Andrew and Linda are excellent hosts making us feel at home in their lovely house. Large contemporary room with well equipped bathroom comparable to a high class hotel. Would suggest having their cold platter on arrival night, it was very generous and delicious. Would recommend!
Mike and Jane Reeves, July 2022
Just a wonderful house to stay in. We are definitely convinced that Passivhaus is the way forward. Andrew and Linda are the perfect hosts even after a barrage of questions from us, they still had time for more. Thank you both for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Kate Surey, July 2022
A beautiful house in a beautiful landscape, everything there done to the highest standard, and a warm welcome and pleasant stay throughout!.
Joe Foster, July 2022
Woodlands is a wonderful house, with perfect hosts and is set in the most beautiful location.
We stayed for two nights in the Pheasant room in early July 2022 looking for a quiet and comfortable break and were not disappointed. Andrew & Linda made us feel most welcome and at ease on our arrival and our room was spacious, comfortable, and finished to the highest specification to make our stay perfect.
The breakfast choice and quality were excellent and the homemade lemon cake was ‘the icing on the cake!!
We were not drawn to Woodlands by a desire to build a Passivhaus, but we couldn’t fail to be hugely impressed by what our hosts had created. We would highly recommend it.
Steve and Barbara Kelly, July 2022
We stayed at Woodlands in June 2022 and what a wonderful experience it was - superlative hosts, delightful Passivhaus and truly peaceful. Andrew and Linda generously gave us a lot of their time to talk to us about planning and building their Passivhaus. They are very knowledgeable and we are very grateful to them.
And Woodlands itself is just the best place – although it was very hot outside inside the air was fresh and the temperature just right. With lemon drizzle cake on arrival, a very comfortable bed, excellent breakfasts, spotlessly clean and the views are lovely we didn’t want to leave. It’s definitely the best B&B we have ever stayed in. We are looking for reasons to go again.
Kathy and Peter Baker, June 2022
Very welcoming and friendly. We had a lovely relaxing few days in an amazing location in a beautiful house. Our room and en-suite were very clean and spacious. Welcomed with lovely cake and tea, coffee, and fresh milk. To start us off on our adventures we had an enjoyable and filling full English breakfast each day. We would highly recommend visiting. Thanks again.
M Brad, June 2022
Wonderful stay at Woodlands B&B, Linda, and Andrew are great hosts. Our room was immaculate and the cold platter in the evening was wonderful, highly recommend it, especially after a long day at the RHS Spring Show. The setting of this amazing house is quite breathtaking, will certainly be back.
Brad, June 2022
Linda and Andrew were most attentive hosts. They were very happy to talk about their self build and passivhaus experience and answer all of our questions (of which we had many as we are starting our own self build passivhaus project). I am coeliac and they made a super effort to provide gluten free food, including a gf homemade welcome cake, and gf bread as part of the delicious breakfast. They had real emphasis on serving local food and free range, which was fantastic and delicious. The B&B is in a beautiful setting with walks from the doorstep, and the fact that it is dog friendly meant our labrador could enjoy the experience with us! The room is decorated beautifully and the comfort level a passivhaus provides cannot be overestimated.Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Click McFarlane, April 2022
We stayed 2 nights in the pheasant room, which along with the rest of the house was immaculate. You have to admire Linda and Andrew's attention to detail and the welcome cake was more than welcome!
We are interested in our own Passivhaus project and what a wonderful home to begin our research. Linda and Andrew are fantastic hosts catering for all needs and are more than happy to discuss their experience of building their own home and living the Passive life.
Matt Price, February 2022
We stayed over a long weekend mid February. If you are interested in Passivhaus then Andrew and Linda are a font of knowledge of which they share freely. If your motivation in life is the countryside and walking, you will find both in stunningly beautiful abundance. If you like wildlife, you will be visited by Phillip the Pheasant, Sergeant Squirrel and Reginald Robin and can spend hours watching them go about their duties. If quiet is what you are after.... it is so quiet I occasionally checked my pulse to make sure I was still alive.
This, coupled by super hospitable hosts, locally produced, generous breakfast, the best designed and appointed accommodation, make this B&B hard to beat. We will be back!
Aaron Ash, February 2022
We went to stay at Woodlands to see if we could sleep in a Passive house where the bedroom temperature is 21C – no problem, extremely comfortable with a stunning bathroom – important to us, as were are considering Enerphit.
Linda and Andrew were fantastic hosts and amazing in their generosity with their time, explaining the decisions they’d taken to get to their passive house. The very welcome tea tray with lemon drizzle cake, and full English breakfast were quite delicious.
If you’re interested in having a Passive House, I’d very much recommend coming here to experience it, as a bonus you’ll be in a beautiful location.
Nicky Meadows, December 2021
We had a wonderful time at Woodlands. We were very keen to have a Passivhaus experience and now we are completely convinced Passivhaus is the way forward. Andrew and Linda were superb hosts and very happy to talk about their house. The bedrooms are a very high standard and the breakfasts were delicious. The location is beautiful and peaceful.

Make the most of this extraordinary stay in the Malvern Hills. Your hosts, Andrew and Linda, will welcome you to their most comfortable and state-of-the-art passive house (Passivhaus) with open arms, feed you like kings and queens, and point out the best of what Malvern has to offer. We plan to visit again as soon as possible!

We stayed at Woodlands in mid-October 2021. It is possibly the best B&B venue that we have ever experienced. The attention to detail in the comfort and service is a reflection of the outstanding care that has been taken to the design of the house. We were particularly interested to learn more about the design, materials and technology that was used in its construction and Andrew supplied all the details we were looking for and more. We would highly recommend a most charming venue and excellent hosts.
Ian Jones, October 2021
Linda and Andrew are consummate hosts, opening their stunning home and providing luxurious accommodation and exquisite homemade jam and bread and more at breakfast amidst peaceful surroundings. Our conversations about the house evolved into a master-class in Passivhaus design which we found encouraging and reassuring that it could be done. Woodlands featured on the cover of Passive House + magazine while we visited confirming how lucky we were to have the Burnett's guidance. They deserve a badge for promoting self-build Passivhaus projects so effectively. Thanks for a fantastic stay, we look forward to returning.
L BH, October 2021
Excellent! Good location, accommodation, food and conversation in a peaceful setting. We hope to return.”
David Allan, September 2021
We have just enjoyed a wonderful stay at Woodlands, Linda and Andrew’s stunning oak-framed home, and B and B. It surpasses cleanliness and attention to detail anywhere we have previously stayed and has a peaceful and restorative ambiance, with beautiful outlooks across the countryside. On the practical side, it is luxurious, with an amazingly comfortable bed, a beautiful bathroom, and thoughtfully planned lighting. Breakfast was delicious with local produce and attractively presented, with everything you could need and much more! Thank you Linda and Andrew for a wonderful stay.
Penny and Tony Shaw, September 2021
What a find, superb accommodation, so tastefully decorated. The bed is so comfortable you won't want to get up. We had the evening platters, and sat on the patio as the sun went down, the perfect end to the day. The food is excellent and will not disappoint. The hosts are really welcoming and happy to discuss the building of the house. Will definitely be back.
Kim Nation, September 2021
Outstanding location, architecture and generous hospitality aside it's the small details that stay with me; the lemon drizzle cake, fabulous bangers, sumptuous robes and double-ended bath. We felt very, very lucky and will treasure our memories.
Sarah Johnson, September 2021
We have just had the most wonderful stay at Woodlands, Andrew and Linda are excellent hosts, the breakfast was delicious made with local produce, the evening cold platter is scrumptious, have one and l am sure you will want another. Woodlands is in a beautiful location, the rooms have lovely uninterrupted views over the countryside, the cleanliness of the rooms is first class, with absolutely everything you will need, we will definitely be back. Thank you Andrew & Linda.
Penelope & James, September 2021
A fabulous stay in a wonderful location, the best B&B we’ve visited! Linda and Andrew have put in a great deal of care and thought into making your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Everything from the very comfortable bed in the beautifully appointed but understated bedroom to the spacious bathroom with, in our case, a fantastic shower, to the outstanding breakfast served against the wonderful countryside views, is just right. Even the plums get a five-star rating! Linda and Andrew were also very generous with their time, answering our questions about the house, as a Passive House build is something we’ve been investigating for some time. Having visited a number of Passive Houses during open days, it was good to finally spend a couple of nights in one and experience the comfort and atmosphere first-hand. Our visit just confirmed that this is the way to build. We can’t wait to make a return visit!
Steven Griffiths, August 2021
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Linda and Andrew's oak-frame house. Our room was beautiful, with a stunning view out across the meadow towards the fruit trees, and the generous choice of teas and coffee in the room was surpassed only by the fact that we had a delicious homemade cake on arrival! We decided not to go out on our first night there, and spent a lovely evening on the terrace with a sumptuous cold platter, which I can definitely recommend! It's lucky we were going walking because there was so much choice at breakfast, and it was all absolutely delicious, with dietary requirements taken into account too. The addition of honey from the hives on the land was also a tasty bonus! We had mentioned that we were also thinking of self-building in the future, and they kindly answered all our questions about the house and made the time one afternoon to talk to us about their experience building their gorgeous home. It was fascinating to learn about it all, and it's given us a lot to consider for the future. Peaceful, tranquil, and luxurious, this stay was an absolute highlight of our year!
Victoria Pugh, July 2021
Linda and Andrew have set the B&B bar very high at their idyllic and beautiful oak-framed house set amongst rolling hills. The welcome is warm, and the rooms are spotless and classily appointed, with plentiful tea, coffee & water, and the added bonus of a delicious homemade cake on arrival. Breakfast is a multi-course feast, with personal touches such as homemade jam & honey from the on-site bees. We opted to stay in for the evening, a very warm summer's evening spent on the terrace with two enormous platters - the cheese & the fish - which were again beautifully presented with lots of extras. Who could ask for more?
Louise Johnson, July 2021
The loveliest location and house! A really relaxing stay, where the owners went above and beyond with all the finishing touches of the room and breakfast. Definitely will be back!
