Woodlands gets Food Standards Agency top rating
At Woodlands, we aim to provide an excellent B&B experience for our guests in the rooms and with the food we provide. We are thus especially pleased to have received the top rating for food hygiene following a recent Herefordshire Council environmental health department inspection.
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme shows how well a business complied with hygiene standards at the time of the inspection, covering:
food storage;
food handling and preparation;
the cleanliness of facilities; and
hygiene management processes and records.
B&Bs, hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafes, food take-aways, schools, hospitals, care homes and various shops are covered in the scheme. Staff are expected to undergo appropriate training, and processes are required to be in place to ensure that the food provided is safe to eat, together with records to demonstrate this.
The scheme is now in its twelfth year and is considered to have helped to drive up standards in food businesses with 97% getting a score of 3 or above. We are pleased to be included in this scheme and delighted to have achieved the top rating on our first inspection.
The inspection rating ranges from 5 (hygiene standards are very good) to 0 (urgent improvement required). Some may remember the Fawlty Towers episode about their food hygiene inspection; their score was probably towards the lower end. Our inspection was much more enjoyable as an experience than the one in this video; and we hope that you will enjoy the experience of staying at Woodlands.
